As I started kicking my memory back and forth, there are products and facilities I have been using from my childhood and till date, which is from various brands of ABG. Growing up, I remember buying my first branded T-Shirt from Peter England. The wide variety it provides is what allure me to go in every time I want to buy clothes. Same goes for brands like Allen Solly, Van-Heusen and Forever21, using their products gives me an extra dose of self-confidence. The second thing that I can remember coming in contact with is Idea, the pan-India mobile operator, and one of the oldest telecom service providers, which also offer a vast array of affordable 3G devices. From Freshwrapp aluminum foils in the Kitchen to UltraTech cement in constructions, ABG has been strongly affecting my life along with many other lives of this country. ABG also contributes to children’s education, women empowerment and general health of people through its scholarship programs, training, and medical camps.
ABG is all around us, improving the quality of our life in every aspect since its formation.
Riding the way to an adventure aficionado’s paradise
There’s a freedom that comes from riding a motorcycle, from the challenges to the satisfaction. One such challenge I faced was while I was riding to the top of the Khardung La, the highest motorable road in the world with an elevation of 18380 ft. As we rattled along on the bumpy and dusty roads, we felt the below-freezing temperatures and numbness all over in the stiff breeze. But, the surroundings that kept getting prettier with every ascent forced our minds to meander elsewhere.
Most of us were aware of the low oxygen levels at this place, and we had prepared for it, carrying an adequate amount of water gears and oxygen cylinders and we all were fine till the sun kept shining. As we continued our ascent to the cold desert terrain of the Western Himalayas, the temperatures started falling rapidly. None of us could sleep properly that night, and I started feeling a little nauseous in the morning. But the sheer will to reach the top and not stop once we have come so far made me determined to get out of this treacherous terrain as soon as possible.
As we proceeded further, we witnessed some beautiful lakes, snow-capped peaks, lush valleys, all of which felt like heaven. And finally, we were there, on top of the Khardung La. It was a feeling of enormous satisfaction, and there was a broad smile on all our faces. We had scaled the highest motorable road in the world. Owing to the extremely low oxygen levels, we could only spend a little amount of time there, admiring the stunning beauty and awe-inspiring views after which we began our descent.
The bumpy roads, the steep drops, the chilling temperatures, the lack of oxygen all put together make for a frenzied yet thrilling experience, which brings along with it a sense of exhilaration at having completed one of the toughest and the best motorcycle rides in the world.
